Christmas Vacation Part 3

The day after Christmas the weather was cloudy, but dry, so Erica and I decided to take the train down to Coney Island to visit the historic site before any summer crowds hit the beaches. We also decided to visit the New York Aquarium so we could warm up a bit in their indoor exhibits. (It is the middle of winter you know.) We took a stroll down the famed boardwalk and out to the end of the pier, which I think is an instinctual thing. I mean, can you remember anytime you walked out on a pier and didn’t go all the way to the end? We saw all of the amusement rides at Astroland, but they were closed…

Christmas Vacation Part 2

Christmas day started with our usual morning walk with the dogs and then we treated ourselves to a little present, crawling back into bed for a couple of more hours. (Extra sleep is always a good gift.) Once we finally dragged ourselves out of bed we fired up the phones and checked in with the family to see how Christmas was going all across the country. We’ve got coast to coast coverage now you know. Erica and I had been trying to find something special to do on Christmas day that didn’t involve thousands of other people (that tends to cut down on the specialness). Christmas Vacation Part 1

This year I’ve got some time off from work and since there is plenty to still explore in our new hometown, Erica and I decided to take in a few adventures. We started out with a few New York tourist type things and went to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, the windows at Saks 5th Avenue, and then of course took the dogs for a walk in the park. There were some sights in our own neighborhood too. A few homes in our neighborhood put up decorations and we got to see them during our evening walks. Plus there was another tree on display at Grand Army Plaza (see below). Erica baked up several batches of holiday treats…
