Yankee Stadium

Tonight is the official last home game for the New York Yankees at historic Yankee Stadium. Tickets for tonight’s game were going for around $2500, so Erica and I went to a game a few nights ago, for considerably less. We saw them play, and beat, the Chicago White Sox. We’re not the biggest baseball fans, but I wanted to make sure we got to experience just a small bit of that historic ballpark before it gets torn down. The stadium opened in 1923 and has been the Yankees home for all of their 26 World Series championships and 39 American League Pennants. The new stadium was built right across the street and is scheduled to open next season. We…

Museum of Natural History

I’ve fallen behind on getting pictures of our latest adventures posted, so I’m trying to catch up this weekend. Last weekend Erica and I took in the Museum of Natural History. The subway ride out there seemed to take forever, but we made it there eventually. We managed to tour most of the museum, but we passed up the current special exhibits and the planetarium. (I don’t think I’ve been to a planetarium since elementary school.) I enjoyed seeing the dinosaur exhibits the most while Erica loved the hall of gemstones (of course). Afterward, we took a cab and had lunch in the city and then took the subway back home to… you guessed it, walk the dogs. :-)…

Why didn’t I think of this?

Remembering

I’m a little late getting these pictures posted, but I guess it is better late than never. All last week the spotlights at the World Trade Center were lit up at night in remembrance of 9/11. Erica and I first saw the lights from Prospect Park while we were walking the dogs one evening. The next night we decided to head up to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade to get a bit closer and see the lights and the city skyline. It was a beautiful, quiet September evening so I think I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking…

The Guggenheim

This Saturday Erica and I decided to visit the Guggenheim Museum. The weather was supposed to turn rainy and windy so we figured it would be good to do something inside. They only allow pictures to be taken on the ground floor at the museum, so I don’t have many shots to share with you this time. The main exhibit was from Louise Bourgeois and focused mainly on her sculpture works. I, however, was more interested in the exhibit titled Imageless. This displayed Ad Reinhardt’s Black Painting along with a selection of his other black paintings. This exhibit was actually more about the examination and scientific analysis of the artist’s methods and restoration techniques than it was about the actual…
